Kegerators

Jones has two very nice (although slightly dirty) Beverage Air Kegerators available for a variety of social events. We also have a large selection of tap handles available as well as 10lb and 15lb CO2 tanks. Please contact the Ambiance Coordinators to reserve them for an event.

Maintenance:

CO2 can be purchased at DeFalco's (S Braeswood and Stella Link), or for cheap at Airgas. If you take it to DeFalco's be sure to bring the canister very cold (as in ice it on the way) or you will need to leave it overnight.

One of our CO2 cans needs to be recertified, which can be done at J.W. Thompson Safety Equipment (1806 Richmond, very close to Rice); they also fill CO2 (with a pump), but I think you need to leave it overnight.

Other supplies, such as CO2 tanks, regulators, taps, hoses, cleaning kits, etc. can be purchased from http://www.beveragefactory.com for reasonable prices.

DO NOT CRANK SIDEWAYS ON THE TAP HANDLES TO TIGHTEN THEM!!!! This will only damage the rounded mount and other parts. Take the top of the tube off (usually by hand) and tighten them with a wrench (or even by hand). Also notice that on the tap itself there is a little lock nut that screws upwards to hold the tap handle in place (so it can be adjusted to always face forward).

If you are having problems with foam:

Make sure that the keg and tap are cold. Any changes in temperature will cause foam (note that this is also why there is a little tube blowing cold air up towards the taps - make sure that is doing what it is supposed to).
Make sure that there are no leaks anywhere.
Make sure that the CO2 is not turned up too high (12psi is a pretty good pressure).
Make sure that there are no kinks in the CO2 or beer hoses.
Make sure that the keg has been sitting still for at least a couple of hours.

The Kegerators should be cleaned after every use to avoid grime build up and, more importantly, the smell of stagnant beer. If they have been sitting for a while the tubes and other plumbing should be cleaned using the cleaning kit provided.

Contact me if you have any questions or problems.

Special thanks to one of our associates, Danny Eaton, for helping procure these wonderful devices from Valhalla :)
